Shadowfax Winery and Vineyard, Company
Matt Harrop - Winemaker
Shadowfax is jointly managed by winemaker Matt Harrop, a New Zealander with great experience in vineyards and winemaking. Matt started working in wineries when he was 17, attending Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia.
In his travels, Matt has spent time in the picturesque vineyards of Italy and Moldova, and just before joining Shadowfax, he worked at the Brokenwood Winery in the Hunter Valley and at Nautilus in Marlborough, New Zealand.
Alister Timms - Vineyard Manager
No stranger to the world of winemaking and viticulture, Alister grew up on his family's vineyards on the Bellarine Peninsula and was planting vines at the age of 10.
With a science degree from Melbourne University, Alister went on to study Oeneology at the University of Adelaide, graduating in 2001.
Shortly after completing his second degree, Alister started working at Shadowfax as Assistant Winemaker, a position he held for three years. During his time at Shadowfax, he travelled to Italy and worked two vintages in Tuscany.
In 2004, Alister returned home for four years to look after the family vineyard and make wine for their label, Kilgour Estate, and then in 2008, he returned to Shadowfax as Viticulturist, overseeing all of Shadowfax's vineyards.
Luke Langton - Sales Manager
Shadowfax's Sales Manager, Luke Langton lives and breathes wine.
Starting his career at Langton's Fine Wine Auctions, Luke's talents were recognised early on by Southcorp Winbes, where he was employed as an On Premise Executive at the age of 21.
During his four years at Southcorp/Fosters, Luke was promoted to Business Development Manager, looking after key on premise accounts.
Luke spent a short time at Scotchman's Hill and at Montara Wines, where he was National Sales Manager for three years.
Since joining the Shadowfax team in September 2010, Luke has brought a wealth of wine and sales knowledge and is championing the brand around Australia.
